Cole Currie Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the tragic passing of Cole Currie, who died on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at just 18 years of age. Cole’s sudden loss has left an immeasurable void in the hearts of his family, friends, and the wider Mississippi Mills community. Though his life was far too short, the impact he made on those around him will be felt for years to come.
Cole was the loving son of Steve Currie and Sharon Reid and the cherished brother of Kristen, with whom he shared a close and meaningful bond. Family was the foundation of Cole’s life, and he was deeply loved by those who watched him grow into a kind, thoughtful, and spirited young man. He was a proud grandson of Gladys Currie, and he is lovingly remembered by the families of his late grandparents Carl Currie and Lyle and Dorothy Reid, whose values and guidance helped shape the person Cole became.
Cole was a treasured nephew to Allan and Mary Reid, Rod (Cathy) Currie, Dave and Kelly Currie, Cheryl (late Pete) Thompson, and Debbie and Chris Shkwarek, and a beloved cousin to Analiesa, Noah, John, Jake, Emily, Dan, and Travis. His presence at family gatherings brought laughter, warmth, and a sense of togetherness that will be deeply missed.
In the short time he was with us, Cole touched many lives. He was known for his easygoing nature, genuine kindness, and the quiet way he showed care for others. Cole had a deep love for spending time with his friends, whether it was playing cards, listening to music, or simply enjoying each other’s company. He found peace and joy in the outdoors, with a particular love for hunting and fishing, and he was passionate about sports, always eager to watch, play, or talk about the game.
One of the most meaningful parts of Cole’s life was his involvement with the Cadets program alongside the Volunteer Mississippi Mills Fire Department. This experience reflected his sense of responsibility, courage, and desire to serve his community. Cole took great pride in being part of something bigger than himself, and his commitment to the program spoke volumes about his character and his future potential.
Cole’s passing has deeply affected the community, and the family wishes to extend a special thank you to the neighbours and first responders for their care, compassion, and support during such a heartbreaking time. Their efforts and kindness will never be forgotten.
A private family funeral service will be held to honor Cole’s life. Friends and community members are invited to show their support on Friday, December 19, 2025, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Clayton Community Centre, located at 147 Linn Bower Lane, Clayton.
For those wishing to honor Cole’s memory, donations may be made to Zion United Church Cedar Hill or the Pakenham Volunteer Fire Brigade. Cheques may be made payable to the Pakenham Volunteer Fire Brigade, or donations can be sent by e-transfer to pakenhamfirefightersassoc@gmail.com (auto-deposit enabled, no password required).
Cole Currie will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his love of life, and the promise of all he had yet to become. He will be deeply missed and forever held in the hearts of those who loved him.
