The Pymatuning Valley School District in Ashtabula County is mourning the loss of Kevin Wolf, a fifth-grade math and science teacher whose death has deeply impacted students, staff, and families throughout the community.
Superintendent Christopher Edison confirmed Wolf’s passing in a phone message sent to parents and students, which was later shared publicly on the district’s Facebook page. No cause of death was released. In his message, Edison emphasized the profound loss felt across the district, describing Wolf as not only a dedicated educator but also a valued colleague and friend.
“Mr. Wolf was a dedicated educator, a trusted colleague, and a dear friend to many,” Edison said. “He was also a loving husband and father, and his loss will be deeply felt throughout our school community.”
According to the Andover Volunteer Fire Department, Wolf was a graduate of Pymatuning Valley High School who later returned to his hometown to serve as a teacher at the district’s middle school. His journey from student to educator made him a particularly meaningful presence in the district, as he taught in the same community that helped shape his own education. Many students, parents, and coworkers knew him not just as a teacher, but as someone who genuinely cared about the success and well-being of his students.
Wolf was known for his commitment to teaching math and science, subjects that often challenge young learners. Colleagues recall his patience, enthusiasm, and ability to connect with students, helping them build confidence both inside and outside the classroom. His passion for education and dedication to his role left a lasting impression on those he taught and worked alongside.
In response to Wolf’s passing, and citing both the emotional impact on the school community and the potential for severe weather, Superintendent Edison announced that all classes across the Pymatuning Valley School District will be canceled on Friday. Instead, counselors will be available to students, staff, and families at the Anchor of Hope resource center from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., offering support during this difficult time.
The district has encouraged families to take advantage of these counseling services and to come together as a community in remembrance and support.
“Please keep the Wolf family and our PV community in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time,” Edison added.
As the district grieves, Kevin Wolf is being remembered for his dedication to education, his deep roots in the Pymatuning Valley community, and the many lives he touched throughout his career. His absence will be felt across classrooms, hallways, and homes throughout the district.
